    Vanaf 1954 werden de eerste locomotieven van de serie 2400 in dienst genomen bij de Nederlandse Staatsspoorwegen. Naast enkele passagierstreinen trokken ze vooral goederentreinen en werden ze ingezet bij rangeerdiensten.
